  1. I must be older than you. When I was in elementary public school, in 1950's S. FL, we not only pledged allegiance, we prayed the Lord's prayer together out loud every morning, followed by the teacher reading us a Bible verse. Not a bad way to start the day.

But when I was in the early grades, in public school, back in the 1950's, saying the Lord's Prayer all together as a class every morning, followed by the teacher reading a Bible verse to the class, was part of daily morning exercises, and it hurt no one. And no child was forced to participate, nor was anychild forced to participate when we saidthe Pledge of Allegiance each morning. It was just a nice, thoughtful and reverent way to start the day.
