Actually, I let my homeowners' insurance go after paying for it and making no claims in 35 years. Now I'm self-insured, I pay my "emergency fund" what used to go for my premium. (I have no mtg.)

How is it a reverse mortgage? It's a secondmortgage, as Michael stated.

@justinmatisewski1285 CA is lawless, with no protections for citizens. Illegals can drive cars and work there. Not in FL, though. And if you're caught driving with no minimum suto insurance in FL, you can lose your license. But it's nowhere near as expensive as homeowners in FL is becoming.

So drop your homeowners and self-insure.

I will simply have to pass the increase on to my renters, of course. The state of FL already allows investment property to be assessed at up to a 10% increase in taxes each year! You think theydon't know who will be paying for it?? Ofcourse they do!

It's not good. Renters willbe paying for it. Sadly, that just makes itmore difficult for young people, and nowdays the not-so-young, to buy their firsthome.

No mortgage you take out on your personal residence will allow you to turn the property into an investment propety; those rates are always higher.

@TheMickeyvdc16968 No. You can live in N. FL much cheaper than in S. FL.
