  2. I'm in N. FL, and State Farm still covers my rental house for less than $1K per year. But after 34 years of paying them for my homeowners' insurance and never making a claim, I dropped it and am self-insuring with the premium savings. ( I always had a big deductible, anyway.) I would never try that with an investment rental house, though.

  4. Yes, although the legislature outlawed assignment ofbenefits , so hopefully unscrupulous roofers and greedy homeowners will stop colluding to commit fraud.
