  1. Except that in FL, lots of wealthy senior citizens would mot be paying property taxes, then. Burdening their children and grandkids unfairly.

  2.  @martinmccoy2735 How would your dad get the reverse mortgage unless yourmother signed,too?! Advise her not to, and explain why. (I hope for your mom's sake they own it as "joint tenants with rights of survivorship", which is how most married couples own their home.)

  3. In FL, you have to be almost poverty-stricken to qualify for a senior exemption, and you must file financial disclosures every year which are public. I guess that's fair.

  4. Reverse mortgages are rip-offs. Better to sell your house and downsize or rent.

  6.  @jomr4249 The government already over-regulates everything too much NOW! And if you like over-regulation of landlords, move to CA and NY, or any other Marxist "Meccas". You'll love it, until there are no more rentals available due to landlords selling.
