@carefulconsumer8682 It's a good time to be a landlord in the red states, like FL, where rent moratoriums, eviction moratoriums, etc. don't and never did exist. Read your state's landlord tenant statute before you invest. But as a small landlord, my condolences to your dad.

@mapguy32 Yes, the FL statutes provide an eviction process. After a due process notification and passage of so mich time, the landlord simply obtains a court order, hires the sheriff to serve notice of eviction. If necessary, sheriff will move the tenant's belongings to the street, etc. Not unduly expensive, and part of the sheriff's job.

@jamesfyffe2610 My county sheriff is a Democrat, but he STILL has to follow the eviction process in FL statutes or be removed from his job.

@jimcrawford3185 Wrong. Sheriffs who don't follow the eviction ststutes of their state can be removed by the governor for not doing their job.

They go to jail if they refuse to leave, once they've been served legal eviction papers. Ofcourse, the blue states, like CA, may be completely lawless, but in FL, eviction not that difficult or time-consumig. I've comecose to having to evict one renter, but never had to finish the process because she left.

@MM-ig2zq Unless they're Section 8 (federal program) it's pretty straightforward to evict desdbeat renters, or those damaging property, in FL. It's not up to the Sheriff whether he wants his office to participate.

@BruceLee-xn3nn That's why you have to follow the procedures for eviction listed in FL statutes (or your state's statutes.)

@adamg1677 Why didn't you just follow the eviction process laid out in your state's Landlord Tenant Act? In FL, if you follow the law, you'll have no problem evicting.

@nyyki_Baby Nowdays, youmust ALWAYS run a credit and eviction check before renting to someone. I had to learn the hard way, too, after years of having no problems just calling their previous landlord to verify good payment history and no damages to house, etc. Gone are those days.😢
