Comments by "Geoffrey Lyons" (@granatmof) on "What could Russia learn from a captured Leopard 2 tank?" video.
I'd assume Russia would already have access to specs of at least the export versions of these tanks as countries that import the tank may have lower security standards

Western tank get killed, it's crew will usually survive to fight another day.

If you can learn something useful from competing technologies, I mean sure. But the west was sending out of date tanks to Ukraine in the first place, with the understanding the tanks will experience losses and Russia will gain access. But honestly the US makes far more information public than people realize, so Russia would know most of it before it gets to the battlefield. The benefit of western tanks is improved crew survivability, and the inability for Russia to use lost tanks to resupply their disrupted supply chains. With Ukraine and Russia have similar weapon systems, Russian losses go to supply Ukraine lines and visa verse. I'm sure at this point there has to be a least Russian tank that was captured by Ukraine that was recaptured by Russia. Well western arms generally won't be compatible with Russia.

Nope. Armored, self propelled direct fire weapons systems are forever part of land warfare. Tactics and deployment strategies will change, but the need for direct fire under contested airspace will remain.
