The roles of attach choppers simply have to change to changes to the battlefield. A key role is simply to act as an escort for troop carrying helicopters. Troops will still need to be quickly deployed via helicopter or Vtol system, though attack choppers move far slower that tilt rotor vehicles. Sadly losing an attack chopper VS a passenger laden chopper is still the lessor loss in manpower. In many ways the over specialization of attack choppers may cause them to be used less, with modified passenger choppers carrying weapons would serve many of the needed escort duties. Drones are shifting the battlefield away from larger armaments except for transportation and focusing it back to the boots on the ground soldier. Soldier deployed drones can act as recon, and even light attack options, combined with various man sized weapon systems. Ultimately you don't control an area unless you have boots on the ground. Soldiers can direct attack, indirect attack via mortars, attack vehicles, they just need a vehicle to get into position to project power from. However the next large scale military conflict is going to push humanity beyond the poi t of destruction. Not in the immediate violence, but in the emissions such wars cause.
