@dutchuncle3310 1. Have you recently been to Paris? I went last year, for the first time since Covid. OMG the city is literally full. There is no room to walk. Crowds everywhere. I remember when I studied there in 2008, I used to go to Sacre Coeur on Sunday to drink Champagne in summer. We would sit on the stairs and enjoy the view. Now, in October (i.e. less popular time than summer) not only you can't sit down, you can't even stand. You have to walk, because the crowds are pushing you. I wouldn't want to do here what they do in France. If Europeans want to be overcrowded by incomers - it's their choice (and btw I don't think they want, hence the meteoric rise of Marine Le Pen), but I hope we won't make this mistake. Germans are also not happy with that Merkel did when she let in all those people. They are a aggressive, they demand money and jobs, and if they don't get them, they become violent. It's mostly guys, almost no women, and even if there are women, they only support their men in their aggression. So thanks, but no thanks.
2. People want to come to the UK because of language, because we are more tolerant, because there are more jobs, because it's easier to get accommodation (even if just flatshare). So whatever French or Germans accept, we'll be having double or triple the figures if we open the gates. Remember how it was when Eastern European countries joined the EU? We were told it wouldn't even be noticeable. In reality the immigration immediately shot up, and suddenly immigration became the #1 concern. Before that the right wing media tried to blame the EU for stuff, but only when the immigration became visible did this become a fruitful area for attack.
