  4. The difference is the water. The syrup is made abroad but the actual soda uses local water.

  5.  @J0rdan912  We have a winner. This comment ^ This is what I came to say. Every bottling plant uses local water and not all of them filter it, if they can get away with it. So wherever you go it should always taste SLIGHTLY different based on where it was bottled.

I have only missed 6 states out of 50 so far in life so I have tasted Coca Cola in 44 different states in the US and I have to say, you can taste the difference in each one. Well except a few border cases where the bottling for one side of the state was done in another. As for Europe, I have had Coca Cola in London, Dublin and Edinburgh and they all tasted different. Tried it in Paris, Rome and some small town in the Alps and they all tasted different except that town in the Alps, tasted like Rome's. Lemme see, no, I can't think of one time, whether it was fountain or bottled, that I couldn't tell. I prefer NY, USA Coca Cola to WA, USA Coca Cola for example. Edit: Germanies (Munich in this case) Coca Cola was the worst to me and tasted like a fountain cola from the UK and I couldn't figure out why so I stopped drinking it while I was there.

  7. Classic American taste? All of those brands use local water to make the soda. If you do not import your Coca Cola from a major capitol like NYC, you are still drinking regional water in your coke syrup. Same goes for MOST bottled beverages in any region of the world. It's why they all have an off taste. It's why Coca Cola in America tastes different in other regions of the country as well as other countries in the world. Get a fountain drink from a Florida, USA 7-11 and compare it to a bottle from NYC and you will taste the sulphury difference.
