  1. "The Founder" didn't paint Kroc as a particularly likeable character IMHO and, in the movie anyway, Kroc isn't the one who came up with the owning and leasing the land idea. I read an extraordinary book, Fast Food Nation, where Kroc was quoted as saying "If a competitor was drowning in a pool I'd go get a garden hose and shove it down his throat". That's an attitude that a lot of people don't have. But guys like Bill Gates, Zuckerberg, and Kroc do and did. They exploited opportunities to the maximum extent practicable, and if that meant stepping on your head and drowning you so that they could stay afloat, so be it.
