  1. If civilization ends then people may not have much use for gold either. If civilization restarts then so will fiat currency. Neither provides that much advantage for gold. If things really fall apart someone cannot eat gold to live.

  2. Correct on the verbage. But the result is still an economic downturn if not collapse. Thus a good reason to not use it for finances.
