  1. never having to refuel is not that big a deal, you still need the logistics ships for food and spare parts and of course the nuclear aircraft carriers are all escorted by non nuclear ships that do need to refuel

  2. also as the Russians have proven recently if the traps go wrong then your planes are stuck in the air till the fuel runs out
