I'm Australian and we are also having to come to terms with Australia's past with respect to our First Nations people AND YES at times its damn uncomfortable. I was working in Canada a few years ago and they are in a similar situation. I don't know Canada's long term plans as they already have the Assembly of First nations but we have a national referendum coming up to change our constitution and help hopefully resolve some of that past by providing a voice to Parliament for our First Nations peoples. Its not too dissimilar to the Sami Parliaments in the Nordic countries. Unfortunately we also have a similarity with what's happening in Florida. We have First Nations people on the RIGHT who are against the "Voice to Parliament" and just like William Allen they are LYING. As he himself says when you say a mis-truth its a mistake but when you keep repeating it then you're a LIAR. I wonder what Jesse Waters makes of that considering who he works for??????

@Imperial-Socialist When I was there in 2017/18 I had the impression that Canada was in a similar situation to Australia. There were things we could be doing better but at least we were doing things while many other nations were still in denial. America and China being at or near the top of that list.

@Imperial-Socialist yes but we must never forget that we can do better. And also on the flag wavers (and we have so many in Australia) they can stop bashing everyone with guilt trips and help move things forward.

@seang-vw7qj yeah it was a public discussion that got hijacked by malignant narcissists the same way the last referendum was hijacked by malignant narcissists and the same way most of our public discussions get hijacked these days. It should have been a very simple YES or No question that everyone could understand and instead they made it into a mess. They did similar with the Republic referendum. That one should have been a very simple "Do we want to become a Republic with an Australian head of state?" Yes or No without any of the nonsense about how we'd do it. This one should have been similar. "Do we want the native Australian peoples to have their own elected body to represent their affairs?" Yes or No without any of the crap and nonsense about UN military troops ready to take control of Uluru and other places. Instead both times we had A-Holes ask questions designed to fail so they could say "Sorry but we did try!"
