You are right but sadly this is NOT treason. If he was in almost any other country except American it would be treason (working with outsiders AGAINST the state) or sedition (working with insiders to OVERTHROW the state). But America has a very narrow definition of treason that is basically limited to helping a declared enemy during time of war. Sedition is almost impossible due to the 1st Amendment. Its sort of why they went with seditious conspiracy for the Jan 6 clown brigade. Unless they have Trump on tape talking to the Saudi's about how he KNOWS they were involved in 9/11 because "I've got this "Top Secret" report and here it is to prove what I am saying!"_ kind of stuff then sorry but its just plain espionage.
