I'm Australian and there's times in what Moira's describing that I don't know if she's describing Greece or Australia. Right now we have both an energy and housing crisis while food prices are skyrocketing. The food price rise are insane. Things as simple as corn chips, cans of soup, cans of baked beans and some vegetables like tomatoes have almost doubles in price since the start of the year. Its insane because Australia is an incredibly wealthy country. For the Green transition we are a major supplier of things like Lithium, Cobalt, Aluminium and Rare Earths and yet massive swathes of Australian's are struggling. Our housing crisis is out of control and the head of our Central Bank simply sat in an inquiry (just days ago) and said "its just the market adjusting." In that moment he gave away exactly what he is - a neoliberal fundamentalist who believes to his core that "the free market will self adjust and government shall not interfere." I have been listening to British Economist Gary Stevenson (here on YT) and he's telling a similar story about what's happening in Britain. Go watch his video on "Why are economists always wrong?"

@taranullius9221 If you subscribe to the Milton Freidman school of economic stupidity as people like Reagan and Thatcher did. THEN YEAH the government should do as little as possible and let the private sector work it out via the markets. In which case you need to ask the question why do we even have governments at all?
