@dr.zoidberg8666 Fair statement and I have heard similar about Puerto Rico and how rich people are buying glorious beach front property for very cheap prices.

Considering that Hawaii was an independent sovereign nation that America INVADED and took over then yeah maybe that's reasonable. Now there's these other people that have names like Sioux, Arapaho, Lakota, Apache,.... etc. who'd also like to hear what you have to say. And while your at it if America and for that matter other nations (Australia, Canada,....) settled by Europeans were to be handed back then where would all those people of European descent go? Be careful in trying to fix one thing that seems so simple but actually isn't.

@avesatanae 100% Dead right on the first point BUT NOT the 2nd point. I'd agree to RESTRICTING how much residential property people can own but not an outright ban or you'd kill the rental industry. Remember there's always that fraction of society who can't own and that might be for any of dozens of reasons. A college student can't afford to own but they probably need at some point to RENT an apartment. Somebody might have a temporary job for a few months or a couple of years and they RENT. People are not always ready to buy and settle somewhere so they need to RENT. BUT where you are damn right we need to stop the maniacs like the Larry Fink at Blackrock or his buddies at State Street and especially maniacs like Trump from owning massive amounts of housing.

@WobblyBits_X ON WHAT do you base the claim that owning multiple properties drives the price up. WHEN ITS OUT OF CONTROL YES I AGREE and that's the problem. Here in Australia we had the government allow a huge concession to investors in rental housing, because we needed the housing. Out population has gone from 19 to 26 million since the year 2000. Canada's growth was even bigger. The problem isn't investors its letting investors get out of control. Plus the other idiotic thing we have done in Australia is let the foreign investors in without any restraints. It was awesome for the construction companies and a disaster for Australians. What we should NEVER have allowed was give investors the tax breaks we allowed on EXISTING houses (NOT apartments), because that was where we had our biggest issues AND STILL DO.
