  1. Your right for what the world currently has. I'm 50+ and can remember when it wasn't about the next news cycle and it wasn't endless cycles of vindictive point scoring . David Pakman had a great term for it "toxic sport politics." He was the 1st person I heard call it that and I think its a great description of what we now have. Its toxic, its all about points scoring and winning the next news cycle and every 4 years theirs the championship. It has nothing to do with running ANY western democratic country, they all suffer it to certain degrees. FYI_ I'm Australian but went to college in America. I was in Canada 3 years ago and other than the snow the news was almost identical to here. Every part of Canadian politics is just like Australia what separates us from America is scale and how much better at it Americans are.

  2.  @GermanLeftist  No arguments with that, but we are in a very different era than the 50s & 60s or 70s & 80s or the 90s. For sure we aren't like the ancient Romans who simply poisoned each other whenever they could and if that wasn't an option they simply stabbed the crap out of each other like they did with Julius. And for sure we aren't like the European middle ages where nobody was sacked from government they just chopped heads off. The English were really good at that. But in general politics these days we have these career politicians who just don't give a damn about doing anything at all. The really don't care about making anything better or doing a specific job. Their entire career is about scoring meaningless points and trashing anything they can. They hog the air, scream at everything and refuse to let anyone get anything done.
