  1. Its a psychological thing from physically having such a powerful device in hand. I remember a documentary on vehicle accidents and cars can have a similar effect. We forget that horse power is based on real horses. So even a dinky 50hp car is a lot of power. By the time you get past 100hp it can have a psychological effect of empowerment. Just driving a car is an act of empowerment. Most people just handle it at a subconscious level and it has almost no real effect. BUT think of those people who get off on the power of their cars and can't seem to ever contain it. Guns are the same sort of thing. Most gun owners you'll find are fine and there's never going to ever be a problem. Its that 1 odd person with no sense of control over their excitement who's the problem.

  2. Yep - we are all still here, while 19 families are trying to deal with the loss of a child and 2 more families the loss of their loved ones. But then each day around 40,000 children starve to death across the world and about another 50,000 people who live in poverty die from simple easily treated infections because we live in a world that's gone numb from it all.
