I'm Australian but went to college in America in the late 80s. So I find incredibly sad to see where America is these days, but America is NOT alone with these issues. Yes, like any country (including Australia) there's always that undercurrent of intolerance with certain groups and there's always some political reactionary trying to take advantage, but these days there's a boldness with some groups. Today is voting day in our federal election and the political advertising this year has been the WORST I have ever seen. Social media, including YouTube, has allowed various political actors to pound away with 6 to 10 second sound bites. Some are silly, most are ridiculous, but some are simply disgusting. Some of the worst have turned out to be supported by AMERICAN INTERESTS including BOTH the Christian Nationalists and Jewish Zionists. There's at least 1 group here that has made no secret of there links with Charlie Kirk's Turning Point targeting young Australians.

@waltersolomon9049 I NEVER said America was perfect. We all know its NOT perfect. I was actually there in 87 during the prelims of the 88 campaign and YES I saw some disgusting stuff. But its tame by current standards. BUT I ALSO SAW some incredibly wonderful people and share time with their families. I also got to see the effect a person of outstanding character can have on people. I went to U. Illinois and was surrounded by Bears fans. I saw first hand the effects Walter Payton had on their mindset. Way beyond what he could do on a football field was his ability to make people see beyond themselves. So don't dare tell me that EVERYTHING in America is bad. I have seen Americans at their best AND THAT'S THE THING THAT UPSETS ME MORE THAN ANYTHING. Right now American Politics has gone lower than I think anyone could have guessed or suggested. YES I AGREE its been bad for a long time, but right now its arguably the worst its ever been AND ITS INFECTING OTHER COUNTRIES. Right now here in Australia we are being bombarded constantly with American style political advertising that's the worst I have ever seen here. I am not blind. I have seen America's best and its fantastic. I have seen America's worst and its a nightmare.

I'm just watching the latest podcast from Kara Swisher & Scott Galloway. It goes straight to the stuff we are talking about with the DISASTER that US politics is right now. There's a point where they talk about Trumps constant lying and that cabinet suck fest. There's an awesome comment by a person named jennifer stone "I’d like to point out that NOBODY’S mental health survives within the orbit of a malignant narcissist. That cabinet meeting was NOT NORMAL."
