  1. Engineer here - I have worked for companies that deployed SAP and NOBODY I EVER MET liked it in the slightest. I would describe it as the most over hyped load of expensive crap I had ever seen. I know of a company that spent over $600 Million deploying it. What they never figured out was how much it was going to cost in people power to maintain it. SAP somehow manged to convince a staggering number of large companies that their software could track every expense down to the last nut bolt and washer and how long it took to buy, stock, design where it had to go and then install that bolt, nut & washer. IT WAS ALWAYS TOTAL COMPLETE BS because those systems end up becoming so huge they are insanely hard to maintain and keep up to date. YES it is possible to track every employee down to the second and account for every bolt, nut & washer BUT HERE'S THE TRUE FAILURE. What do you actually get in return for all that effort other than a giant pile of data that's impossible to effectively analyse let alone utilise?
