  1. I'm Australian and mainly of Anglo-Saxon descent. The crazy thing about the Anglo-Saxons is that neither the Angles or Saxons are from Britain. The Angles are from Denmark and the Saxons from Saxony which is in Germany. I went snowboarding in Hokaido a few years back and they sell t-shirts there "Hokiado - its a dialect." One of the hotel clerks (who spoke excellent English) explained it to me one day. He said he's instantly recognized by his accent in Tokyo. He told me it was similar for the people form the far south like Okinawa. It was interesting to learn first hand that Japan has distinct cultural regions.
