ENGINEER HERE: The single greatest problem with the entire nuclear discussion is that ANYBODY and EVERYBODY who is NOT and engineer is speaking. There's economists doing MOST of the talking, followed by the media, activists, special interest groups (from both sides) and Think Tank clowns (from both sides) as well as Lobbyists (from both sides). Worst of all the media will put a microphone in front of anyone EXCEPT an engineer. The only question the media are interested mainstream irrespective of traditional mainstream or new media is "what will generate clicks." The CSIRO report and the more recent LNP report by Frontier were both written by economists and both had wildly different numbers BOTH of which are equally ridiculous. How can 2 sets of economists look at the same TECHNOLOGICAL problem and get such different answer unless one, the other or both have NO IDEA what they are talking about. As an engineer I am so frustrated by the stupidity being shown in this discussion and it could easily cost our nation several $TRILLION. Don't forget Snowy 2.0 was originally costed at $2 Billion and is now expected to cost $20 Billion AND HOW THAT HAS HAPPENED is NOT BEING DISCUSSED. If we don't start addressing WHY these projects blow out it won't matter what we build its going to bankrupt the nation.
