  1. I'm Australian but went to college in America (late 80s). I did engineering but had friends doing pre-law. They liked discussing the Constitution with me. I'd studied Orwell in high school and used to argue that ANY country could fall into an authoritarian nightmare. They used to argue it was technically impossible in America because of how the Constitution would not allow for it because of the "checks & balances". As an engineer I'd call them "safety functions". We never discussed the possibility that somebody would tear down onw of the main "safety functions" because that concept just didn't exist. Getting one idiot on SCOTUS wasn't considered rational let alone practical. Somehow they have 5 and that might be direct threat to America but its also an indirect threat to other nations. For countries like Australia, Canada, Japan, Britain, all of Europe and many others there's serious trade and security arrangements and treaties, NONE OF US can have America destabilised and these people are destabilising America.
