That's a good way to put it because the one grievance I have with Konstantin's argument is that one is worse than the other AND THAT'S INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS because that feeds the "we aren't as bad as them" mantra that fanatics OF ALL TYPES have used through history to justify atrocities. I'm somebody who cannot stand it when people let their ideology (political or religious) override logic and common sense and deny the evidence that's right in front of them. I have that issue with Lefties as much as with Right wingers - they both do it. They like to talk about nuance and then throw nuance out the door like Konstantin did with this argument. There's a great line in the film "Enemy at the Gates" where Joseph Fiennes character says something like "Does it matter if our men are shot with German or Russian bullets?" It was in reply to the fact the Russians machinegunned any of their troops who retreated. There is no worse between Facism and Communism or any other "ism" when you let it go unchallenged because when it goes unchallenged you get the maniacs like Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Mao, Pol Pot,.... etc. and all the misery they bring.
