Australian here - EXACTLY It has NOTHING to do with security and EVERYTHING to do with ECONOMICS. Greenland has massive reserves of rare Earths and other valuable minerals and the Orange "Drill baby drill" Gorilla wants it. This is just a 2025 re-hashing of the old cold war themes that's just as idiotic and ridiculous today as it was in the 1950s & 60s. One of the things that turned up IN THE LATE STAGES and AFTER the Cold War ENDED. Was how incapable the Russians were of attacking America. Yes they had a much larger army with a lot more tanks & jets and other stuff BUT IT WAS JUST STUFF. I'm old enough to remember when America finally got its hands on a Mig-25 Foxbat. At the time the media went nuts with "How great of a strategic triumph it was because the Foxbat was the jet of jets of that age and how fast it was (above Mach 3)" Turned out its electronics were equal to mid 50s maybe early 60s and yes it really could go fast. The problem with those speeds is it wrecked the engine. Basically if a Foxbat went above a certain speed they just threw the engines away afterwards and if it went even faster then they threw the entire plane away afterwards. Greenland has the same "media flavor" of the Foxbat.

@hereLiesThisTroper Actually we all do to some extent. To some extent we find ways to trust the media or at least some parts of them. And we keep voting in the same politicians and/or their parties.
