@susanford2388 I'm Australian but went to college in America. Australia, America and Britain all suffer because our political leadership all come out of a couple of extremely elitist universities that have made it part of their identity to produce those leaders. In America its Harvard & Yale, in Britain Oxford & Cambridge and in Australia its Melbourne Uni and Sydney Uni. Yes we were less creative with the names. Yes, in each country there's a few other that are closely associated but those are the prominent ones. On one hand it sort of makes sense that you want your leaders to go to the best schools. On the other hand elitist mentality has always lead to arrogance and arrogance of that type leads to ignorance in the form they start ignoring obvious things because in their arrogance they think those things don't matter. I don't know the details but I'd bet most of the developed world is similar. And in a nutshell that's why we are all so FCKD. We are in a weird combination of meritocracy and oligarchy. As Orwell said in 1984 _"Imagine a boot stomping on your face for 1,000 years"

Same answer I just gave someone else. Australian here and from the OUTSIDE looking in America has done this to itself just like the British did with Brexit and we are doing with AUKUS. On face value there was never a lot wrong with Brexit or with AUKUS or with the concept that Merrick Garland had which was "Its political so let the American people decide it at the ballot box." The problem is Brexit was motivated by stupid opportunistic selfish people who didn't think through what Brexit actually meant or how to get it done. The problem with AUKUS isn't we are cementing our international relationships or getting nuclear powered submarines its the insane cost that's being drive by some stupid opportunistic selfish people who don't give a damn because they are in it for the money. The problem with Garland was he never considered that stupid opportunistic selfish people would take advantage of the situation. Can you see the common thread. Gatez and Trump are just symptoms of a more pervasive disease.

@hollihawk1 The problem is THERE is no actual Progressive Party ANYWHERE. Like so many other things the word or label progressive has been HIJACKED by the clown brigades of political actors who jump onto whatever word or subject they can find to suit their needs. The word woke is a perfect example. Until a couple of years ago it was nothing more than a word African American blues musicians used as an alternative to "a awake" to fit the music score. Its meaning was simple "are you awake to the economic plight of African Americans." Then the radicals decided that it was their new word to bash people with. The same thing has happened with progressive and other words, just not as bad. At its simplest ANYONE who wants to see their society move forward and get better is a progressive. The moment it becomes ALL ABOUT 1 group of people then its NOT progressive. I don't mean when people say "we need to lift these people up to our level." I mean when people get so focused on 1 issue that they forget about what's fair and trample over anyone to get what they perceive as fair or just or right. A perfect example is the German Green Party. They were so determined to get rid of nuclear power that when they did they had to ramp up their coal fired power plants to make up for the loss. After spending €1.3Trillion on renewables their emissions went UP not down. THAT'S NOT PROGRESS and yet they claim to be progressive.

Your right about that list except for James Comey and you have also left off 2 of the greatest failures in in human history in Merrick Garland and Jack Smith who did everything they could to appear to do their jobs and yet fail. On Comey I expect you are referring to his public release to to finding those emails a few weeks before the 2016 election. Let me put this forward. JUST IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED If Comey had stayed silent and THEN Hilary had won AND THEN the emails came out. Do you really think the Republicans and Trump would have just accepted the result or do you think they would have torn the Country apart? The Russian born commentator Masha Gessen was interviewed on Australian television regarding Putin's MISinformation campaign in 2016. While others put Putin as playing 4D chess Masha put forward a simpler explanation. That basically went: Putin is NOT a deep thinker and in his world elections are decided beforehand and all government agents are loyal to the person in charge. So in Putin's mind Hilary had already won and that was bad, because Putin hated Hilary as she'd personally overseen the sanctions on Russia as Secretary of State. So how could Putin hurt Hilary? So Masha's view was that Putin intended to release the emails AFTER Hilary won and cause a crisis in America that would be devastating. Its basically a version of the "If you can't destroy your enemy then find a way for your enemy destroy them selves," Who knows how accurate that assessment was. But its damn easy to see it would have been a crisis if Comey had covered up those emails and Hilary had have won and then Putin released them.

PEOPLE LIKE George Conway NEED TO SHUT THE HELL UP AND GET OTU OF OUR LIVES Its all these people like him driving anyone bonkers that are the reason why we are now in crazy land. Way back in 2004 there was the documentary Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism and in that documentary was the warning that the media was being DRIVEN FROM fact based journalism to opinioned based journalism. So its all these echo chamber BULLSHlT artists like George Conway who are the problem.
