  1. As an Australian thank you so much for recognizing the fact the Chevy SS was one of ours. The other Australian car that we sold to America out of that stable was the Holden Monaro rebadged in America as the Pontiac GT. The story behind how that car existed at all is worth an episode. It was reviewed on Top Gear several times and always to rave reviews. And a second episode should go to its its incredibly rare 427 variant. YES America we built a 427cui Pontiac GT. Only 2 were built and they finished 1st and 2nd in the 24hr race at Bathurst. So they had both speed and endurance in buckets. For the uninformed - Bathurst is what you'd gate if you crossed Pikes Peak with Daytona - a sacred mountain to motor sport, except its a circuit not a hill climb. But we built 2 (very sadly only 2) of the 427 Pontiac GT, which I think you Americans would have loved. Its one of the saddest "what ifs" in Australian motoring history.
