YEAH and the COALITION HASN'T EXPLAINED how they are going to pay for nuclear power either. This is the problem and its NOT JUST Australia its rampant across the entire developed world. We are trapped in an braindead economic situation of our own making. AND SO WE ARE CRYSTAL CLEAR - Marxism, Socialism and Communism are NOT THE ANSWER. Look at Russia and look at the man made mega-disaster of the Aral Sea or the insane destruction of Chinese Waterways or the toxic legacies of bad practices across Eastern Europe AND THERE WASN'T A CAPITALIST ANYWHERE NEAR ANY OF IT. Yes Western Capitalism might have defeated (if it can be called that) the Eastern Socialist/Communist empire in the Cold War. But did they defeat Eastern Socialist/Communist system or did that system simply collapse out of its own mismanagement? Like wise is Western Capitalism now failing because of its own internal issues. By that way for all you Fox/Sky lovers Chris Bowen was on the 7:30 Report recently and he said he doesn't believe that the government should build or own power stations. Can any of you Right Wing nutcases explain why a Left wing clown like Chris Bowen is spouting the same sort of economic nonsense that a Right Wing Economist would preach?

ENGINEER HERE - If we don't do something very soon you effing M0R0N we will be in the dark anyway. Will all you clowns get this very very simple concept into your brains. Coal fired power stations are just like anything else THEY WEAR OUT and need to be replaced. Its the same for nuclear as both the French and British have found out and are no w panicking over. Eventually the wind and solar clowns will also have to face that fact as well. Bearings in wind turbines wear out while solar cells lose efficiency over time and batteries don't last either. EVERYTHING WEARS OUT and EVENTUALLY NEEDS REPLACING. Right now our coal fired power stations are turning off because they are worn out. Climate change had NOTHING TO DO with closing Hazelwood, Liddell or any of the others. They were OLD and WORN OUT and cost too much to keep running. It was NOT the fault of the Coalition or Labor that those companies did NOT look after their own assets. THAT WAS 100% the fault of the owners of those power stations. And please don't get started on those clowns at the National Energy Market they are so stupid they are a threat to society anytime they are unsupervised AND BOTH SIDES of Politics have failed to supervise them. That's something we can blame the Coalition and Labor for doing. NOT PROPERLY supervising AEMO.

@lesleyosborne9319 NO IT DOESN'T you idiot because if we don't replace those older power stations we will be in the dark anyway BECASUE THEY ARE OLD AND WORN OUT and NEED to be REPLACED. Some of our power stations were built when Peter Brock was still driving Toranas and the first Commodore wasn't even on the drawing table.
