@jonasp6043 No arguments there. Rupert Murdoch bought the Fox network back in the 1980s and then set up Fox News for the express purpose of political propaganda. FYI - I'm Australian but went to college in America on a sports scholarship. It shits me how an Australian (Rupert) has done what he's done to a once great nation. Knowing exactly how Murdoch's empire operates, Brian creating this fund is a ammunition that they will hurt the cause with. Getting rid of McConnell is good for the world. I remember a film about the Nuremburg trials and the lawyer prosecuting the top Nazis including Goring lamented to his commander that its was almost impossible playing fair to convict. His commander told him to simply go in there and simply let Goring expose himself for what he was and what he had done. They (the DNC) should have simply gone on a very basic but relentless campaign on what McConnell had one. Even be so blunt as to drive through towns with the old speaker cars blaring all day every day - "McConnell doesn't care about you" "He says, he does, he lies, he cheats, he doesn't care - he has to go." Imagine where the GOP would be if one of their chief power players got made to pay for his behavior?? Instead the DNC let him off the hook and he's still there doing the same shit. McConnell has to go, but it wont happen when you hand soft targets to the right wing media.

@jonasp6043 I have watched a lot of Mark Blyth this last year and he's very good at explaining how we got here. 2 of his compatriots in explaining the mess the world finds itself in (its not simply and American problem) are Adam Tooze & Quinn Slobodian. They've indicated that it really started when Nixon swung the Republicans with his "Southern Policy." Reagan then hammered it home when his people realised they could lock in the Southern evangelists by taking a "Right to Life" stance even thought Reagan had done a "freedom of choice" bill as Governor of California. The Republicans (as a party) flipped on a heartbeat so they could win and they haven't stopped digging that hole deeper and deeper. What Trump did was downshift, engage the blower & hit the NOX ah la Mad Max mode. If you're an real Aussie you'll get that. The Republicans are what they have been for 50 years, with Trump they no longer hide it.

Brian's actually crossed a line in this and a very dangerous one - and he should know better. If you are going to be a media commentator then you have to have some disconnection or you are just another propaganda outlet. If you think through this then its actually not a good thing. Notifying people of this fund is one thing. Promoting or supporting it is very close to the edge of being propaganda. BUT setting it up when you are a media outlet/producer is over the line. His hearts in the right place and getting rid of McConnell is a good thing for America and Western Democracy in general. There are other people in other countries doing the same (or similar) thing McConnell does. Getting rid of these people is good for the world, but its no good getting rid of them in a way that ends up helping the next McConnell get elected. Just think how many times Trump screamed about biased media and his base lapped it up.

@clownanaround7996 That's not what I am saying. McConnell isn't simply a threat to American democracy he's a threat to western stability. McConnell HAS TO GO. But its not smart to hand ammunition to your opponent. Especially when your opponent is as cynically ruthless as the American Right are. They'll see this as left wing media bias and proof of the fake news AND WILL scream it at their base. DO NOT forget that there base DOES NOT care about reality.

@lynnmeyers4642 Yeah nut most of the internet ISN'T impartial. I don't have a problem with any of them being biased. Sure its annoying, but so long as they DON'T actively set up things like this they can at least claim they have some level of impartiality or integrity. This is the great claim FOR & AGAINST Fox. They claim to be "Fair & Honest" and to their supporters they are, but anybody with brain function who KNOWS how Rupert Murdoch operates KNOWS they are NOT fair or honest. One of the things Murdoch and his minions are incredibly good at is dragging opponents down to their level and using it against them. I like BTC, he does some great interviews and his analysis is straight forward. I'm just worried this will get used against him.

@toddmercure9745 I truly get the sentiment behind this and this fund is a good thing - Getting rid of Mitch McConnel should be one of the top priorities of any American who wants to start fixing Washington. BUT having it set up by a media outlet isn't a good thing. Its easy to see that right wing media will use this as PROOF of left wing media bias AND their base will lap it up. Sorry I know that sucks, but its the truth. 🤷♂️🤷♀️
