I don't know if its a matter of simply stopping him, its more of a matter there is no protocol for handling this situation, because NOBODY has done anything like this in a modern developed Western democracy. Certainly since America was formed after the revolution nothing like this has happened. There have been other Revolutions in France, Russia and other places, but they were completely different to this. This does happen in less developed nations, but not in Western democracies. So I think part of it is that nobody knows what to actually do with him and you can't just simply lock him up because you don't like what he says.

@bernardwilson I think Trump's either had a mental breakdown or he's in the early stages of degenerative decline. What else explains his behavior? How else can you explain is complete refusal to accept he lost despite all the court cases and all the recounts and all the audits? EVEN the bogus audit in Arizona says he still lost. It can't be anything accept some from of mental illness. His followers are another matter and there is no simple answer there and there's certainly not 1 answer that fits all of them.

Actually you can't call him a moral anything because he'd actually have to have morals in the first place. If Dennis Prager has even a single molecule of morals or ethics in his being then I's guess that would have to be one of the loneliest molecules in the universe.

I agree with your first sentence but maybe not the second. If you are talking about the organisations that claim to be Christian then we are in 100% agreement. But if we are talking about what Jesus himself was recorded as saying then we aren't. If anyone bothers to go read what Jesus himself said you'd know he not only expected false Christians and warned against them but even told people how to identify them. Its one of the main reasons why most religions historically have NOT wanted common people reading holy texts. Its a practice that goes all the way back to ancient Egypt. For centuries the Catholic Church were incredibly violent towards anyone they caught translating the Bible into any language common people could read. Many translators were executed as heretics. And there's a reason why. They didn't want people knowing what Jesus or anyone else said. They wanted the peasants to do as they were told. Jesus most well known speech is the Sermon on the Mount, even Ghandi (a Hindu) commented positively on it. Its found in Matthew chapters 5, 6 & 7. Chapter 7, it is almost entirely dedicated to warning people about false preachers (prophets) and importantly how to identify them. He specifically warns about people who preach loudly on street corners and claim to do miracles and powerful works in his name AND that they would be rejected. Do you really think people like Marjorie Taylor Green want people to actually read things like Matthew Chapter 7 and then take an HONEST look at how she operates?

In America its called the 1st Amendment which says: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." On 2 counts what Wikileaks did was NOT illegal. 1) They acted as the "press" because; 2) They informed the American people about "grievous criminal acts" that were being done in their name in Iraq and Afghanistan that allowed American people to petition their government to redress those grievances. Sorry but I went to college with a bunch of people doing pre-law and they know this shit backwards, forwards and any other way you care to argue. Do I think Julian Assange was an attention seeking smart ass? Absolutely, but the only crime committed was embarrassing every politician across the "coalition of the willing" who signed off in the double disaster that was Iraq and Afghanistan.

I'm not a lawyer but I think that almost anywhere in the Western world this can go down as "contempt of court" and if the judge wants he can increase the sentence. If anyone has a clarification on that please speak up.

Why not they had a guy with Alzheimer's, an ex-CIA boss, a guy who got caught getting blown by an intern, an ex-coke freak spoiled brat who let his VP start 2 Wars and that's just since the mid 70s. Lets also not forget that America (for just a moment) forgot its racism issues and even let a black guy have a go. I'm not surprised America put a mob family in the White House I'm surprised that in 2020 an extra 11 million people (than 2016) thought he did such a good job telling the world to FK-off that they wanted to give him an extra 4 years AND ALSO wanted the rules changed to have him for MORE than 2 terms.

@jamesglendening5180 Oh, yeah the similarities in many respects are similar. There's similar cults like North Korea, where the worship of the Kim family is totally bonkers. They have taken Roman Emperor worship and Egyptian Pharaoh worship to a bizarre level. There's another similarity that few talk about and that's the economic state. Germany was hammered by the Treaty of Versailles and that left their population angry frustrated and feeling there was no way forward. Look at the heartland of Trumps base and its got very similar economic tones. A couple of years ago I saw an news item about a locomotive factory that was being closed in Ohio and moved to Texas. That was the major business in that town. So losing that factory not only created direct unemployment, but all the contractors and suppliers to that factory lost their jobs or significant parts of their business. That also meant that all the other businesses in the town suffered because there was so much less money available to spend in the town. The locomotive people were offered new jobs in Texas but at 20% less pay. But to sell their houses and move they had to sell their houses in a town with NO JOBS and no future. In one swift move to get a bonus some executive clown from New York smashed their asset values and ruined their earning capacity and they were the lucky ones because at least they had a job to go to in Texas. What every body seems to forget is that Trump being the opportunist that he is worked out those people would vote for anything that told the political establishment to FK-OFF. What he did was despicable, in that he took advantage of vulnerable people in a stressed state and hasn't stopped squeezing since. This is where there arrogance and stupidity of the Dems is so pathetic. Instead of talking to these people, instead of listening to them and finding ways to actually help them and give them some hope of a future. They have played right into the idiotic culture war where they have always lost only this time they are losing even worse because these people are now so far down Trumps rabbit hole that it will be almost impossible to dig them out.

Grahame Wells That's an understandable sentiment but totally daft reality. Just simply charging Trump won't ever work. They had him dead gone TWICE on impeachment and the GOP senators simply never blinked. What do you think will happen with a jury where they only need 1 dissenting voice. They have to get Trump the same way they got Al Capone. On something straight forward where there was no doubt. Will it ever be enough? Most likely NO, but so long as they can dump his ass in the slammer for a time it will have to do. The true stupidity of McConnell and Co was that they could have used the 2nd impeachment to be done with Trump. He lost the election, they lost the White House, they'd made a few gains in the states but lost the Senate (sort of). The GOP could have rid themselves of Trump and there would have been nothing Trump could have done. Instead they let the disaster just roll on.

I'm Australian but went to college in America on a scholarship (late 80s). One thing I learned in my time in America is that Americans publicly RARELY disrespect their men in uniform. Yes there are the anti-War anti-Military people, BUT even they rarely make personal attacks on individuals. If they do its usually over a specific incident or deployment or particular spending. In almost all cases the American RIGHT rage against any disrespect of the military. This unparalleled in recent American history. I believe you'll find he was in the intelligence services for most of his career. When he made is "lets have a coup" comments earlier this year other military people pointed out his career in military intelligence where the normal military rules and roles don't apply. So despite his rank he's most likely never lead men or women in the manner you might think.

Just look at the first graph and you'll see that 50% of the American Population has gone NOWHERE for over 30years while the Top 10% have leaped ahead. THAT'S THE FRUSTRATION Trump (with MAGA) has tapped into and until the Dum-o-crats wake TF up and address that reality Trump's base is NOT going away. And the same goes for Europe and the rest of the developed world. I'm Australian and it applies here too. All of our main stream parties are dominated by economists and consultants and most of the consultants are also economists. This is arguably the single biggest issue in the World right now. Under their guidance economists have made the wealthy wealthier and the poor poorer and that's caused massive frustration which is why populists are on the rise.

Not a single US President has ever been charged with a crime and they all did something at some point in their careers. Clinton fired missiles into Somalia in an attempt to kill Bin Laden. That was an act of war and an international crime. George Bush invaded Iraq which was also an international crime. Obama gave orders for drone strikes that killed 100s of innocent civilians in countries where America had no right to be. - that's murder. Trump ordered the assassination of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani who at the time was on a PEACE MISSION and all Trump said was that "He was a bad guy!" The most any of them ever got was Clinton getting impeached for getting a blow job.

Well he and his buddy Lindsey Graham now want you to go back tot he middle east but this time to Iran. Just so you and the others know what it means. And no offense is intended to you or any others who served. These are just some basic facts. There were 27 million Iraqis when America and its allies invaded Iraq. There are 87 million Iranians and their territory is one of the best homefields in recorded history. The Persians were only invaded twice. Alexander the Great was the first and Genghis Khan was the other. Both had the advantage of cavalries that arrived without a lot of notice. The Iranians would see the America coming because even they have satellites and television sets. PLUS after Iraq where America LIED to the World NOBODY is going to line up and join in. Even if you could muster enough support to Invade you have the geographical issues. MOST of the Iranian population is in the North where they are protected on the North West and North East by rugged mountains either side of the Caspian Sea. To the South is a massive desert. The only viable option would be to pound the Northern Population into submission with an aerial bombardment which would likely mean killing millions of civilians. Even if you could get in and take out the Iranian government WHAT THEN??? You couldn't subdue, manage or rebuild a country of 27 million. HOW TF are you going to do that to 87 million people?

@mikemcintyre7084 I'm not certain its the only profession protected but its the best known and specifically so in the 1st Amendment. As I mentioned I did engineering but a bunch of my friends were pre-law. I'm actually Australian and those friends liked dragging me into discussions probably because I had a different perspective. We mainly discussed the 1st & 4th, rarely the 2nd and never the 3rd except to say it was irrelevant. The rest sort of as a group. I used to be super impressed by how well American in general understood the US Constitution but in the late 80s all of them had done civics in high school. If there was one thing I'd change in Australia's education system it would be to do an Australian version of the US civics education program and make sure every Australian kid knew the basics before they finished high school. It staggers me that America defunded civics education. I know most of the stupid stuff going on right now would not have happened in the past.

The staggering thing about Jon Voight's claim is that he's NOT WRONG about the corruption in Washington, he's just insanely out of touch with reality to think Trump is the answer. Believing Trump can fix corruption Its like trying to treat a 3rd degree burn with Sulphuric acid. Its as dumb as cutting your finger off to deal with a splinter. On corruption, I'm Australian and we can barley believe that American politicians are allowed to trade stocks that they are involved in making decisions on. We cut that out after a major scandal in the 1970s, but then we still have other forms of corruption EVERYONE DOES and like everyone else we also refuse to deal with it until its so bad we have to act.
