I am going to go 1/2 against Thom on this, because as Mitch McConnell, Diane Feinstein and others have shown NOT having limits can be just as worse because you can get entrenched cronyism which is like cancer and just as lethal to a functioning society. Just to check I looked up term limits and there's a Wikipedia page on term limits in the US. Couple of surprises: 1) POTUS is limited to 2 terms but VPOTUS has no limits. 2) Almost all of the state limits are 8 years in all sorts of mixtures of 2 and 4 year terms with a few places having 12 year limits. That seems to be the sort of thing Thom is talking about. Its too short for people to actually make any sort of a long term difference to their state. How do you do anything that's long term when you can't see it through from initial concept to final outcome?
