I'm Australian and went to college in America (late 80s). I did aerospace engineering but a bunch of my friends were pre-law and used to drag me into discussions on the constitution from time to time. I'd studied Orwell (Animal Farm and 1984) and used to argue that ANY nation could fall into a totalitarian nightmare if they weren't careful. They used to argue that it could never happen because of how the US Constitution was written. We never discussed what might happen if people like Trump, Charles Koch and Robert Mercer were allowed a free hand to do as they pleased without restraint and worst of all started dismantling the system they said could not fail. If you actually look through it then you get to a simple conclusion. These American billionaires are a bigger threat than China and Russia combined ever were. We all trade at the international level in US Dollars because that's the reserve currency for international trade and has been since we all greed at Breton Woods in 1944. If they get their way it will destabilise America and with it the US Greenback. That means chaos as in total utter maniac chaos for international trade and that hurts everyone.

@A_kiwis_view The problem is the higher the pressure on society before it snaps the more brutal the response. Look at the French and Russian Revolutions for examples. Prior tot he French Revolution the French were the technically dominant society on the planet. They lead the world in math, chemistry, astronomy and engineering. its actually staggering where they were and most of it ended up in the hands of the English. I don't think that America is going to simply lose I think they are going to lose huge if they don't stop going down this path.

@A_kiwis_view Yep, go look at history when the the system fails only 2 things happen. New leadership or a Revolution followed by new leadership. The only thing that might vary is how violent the revolution is.
