Its not hypocrisy its brainless stupidity. If they were chasing jobs and development then there's other uses for coal like water filtering, carbon fiber, carbon nanotubes, graphene and those are huge untapped and developing markets. BUT THEY AREN'T TALKNING ABOUT THOSE THINGS they are talking about industries that are already changing. I'm Australian we have EXACTLY the same attitudes here in our coal industry. We have people whose brains are stuck in a time warp where coal, steam and steel ruled the world. They can't comprehend or just don't want to deal with the fact the world is changing. They ignore the fact that once coal and steam arrived the days of horse and sail ended and it became steam ships and trains. The world is changing again.

@hiddenknowledge2012 Not as many as you think. When I helped build the Caval Ridge mine near Moranbah in Queensland we had a work force around 3,500. But the actual mine in operation is only about 600. Building mines is incredibly labor intensive, operating them isn't.
