  1. Thanks as an aerospace engineer I HATE clowns who don't go and ask before they make an ass out of themselves. Here's the basic problems of trying to militarise the moon (with current and foreseeable technology) 1) Its going to cost 100s of billions of dollars. The ISS cost $120 Billion to construct and has so far cost around another $80 Billion to maintain and that's only been possible by sharing those costs among nations. 2) If you did build a military base on the moon then everyone will know because they'll all see the rockets launch and be able to track them from the telemetry. Even if the telemetry is encoded to such an extent it cannot be decoded everyone will still know where the transmission point is coming from and therefore still be able to track it. 3) If you did launch a weapon from the moon it will take 3 days for it to reach Earth giving everyone plenty of time to deal with it. Because everyone knows where you are (see item 2) then they'll know where to be watching as well. As for resources, the only known resource on the moon that's valuable enough for a viable base is Helium-3 and that's only valuable if there are fusion reactors capable of using Helium-3 and no commercial fusion reactor of any type yet exists let alone one built for Helium-3.

If China (or anyone else) tried to put a base on the moon the US could just do another version of LRO or an upgraded one to watch what's going on. So I can barely believe people are still trying to make this idiotic claim. Its as dumb as the people who think there's already a force of space marines on a secret American space station just waiting to be dropped somewhere. Yeah look at how much help people need just walking after being weightless for a few months. It seems like there's no end to how stupid the garbage media people produce can be OR the number of people who take it as gospel.
