Australian here - the idea that anyone thinks De Sanctimonious (yes we know his nickname) is close to being presidential material is absurd and shows just how morally bankrupt American politics now is. And before you ask Australian politics is almost as bad. I actually went to college in America (late 80s) U. Illinois. I was there when Walter Payton was still playing and I got to see the effect he had on people. I have also watched a number of the winners of the Walter Payton Award speak. I have seen people like Admiral William McRaven speak a few times including that incredible commencement speech. We all got see Captain Brett Crozier put his personal career second behind the welfare of the thousands of personnel on the aircraft carrier he commanded during COVID. I have maintained that America DOES NOT lack for good leaders who actually have character and fortitude. In fact I think you have an over supply of them. Its just that NONE of them are in American politics. Maybe they are smart enough to stay out of it.

@NCandHR Yeah I went to U. Illinois and what still stuns me to this day was how Walter cut through the race barrier. My frat bothers treated it like a sacred duty that they teach me all about Walter and all the bad years he and the Bears has struggled through. It was his EFFECT on other people that makes me consider him one of the finest human beings of my life time. Its an odd thing but most people don't seem to realise that the MOST prestigious award in one the biggest sporting competitions in the world has NOTHING to do with anything that any player does on the filed. As a genuine question do you realise how profound that is, that a major sport has as its highest honor nothing to actually do with the sport?
