Comments by "Tony Wilson" (@tonywilson4713) on "Alabama Finds New Way To Execute People | The Kyle Kulinski Show" video.
There was a documentary done by a British journalist over 10 years ago in response to issues with lethal injections. It went on the premise "If we are going to execute people is there a simple painless way just to switch people off?" What was disturbing in that documentary wasn't that they found a way to switch a person off but the attitude of the doctor in charge of American executions. The method they found was Carbon Dioxide which is used in some parts of the meat industry. There's been incidents like the the 1986 Lake Nyos incident where a wave of carbon dioxide simply killed over 1,700 people in seconds. There have also been numerous industrial accidents where people have gone into pits or chambers that had excessive amounts of CO2 and they just drop dead. Its why many industries take confined space work so seriously. CO2 can switch a person off in seconds. About all they experience is a moment of light headed euphoria before losing consciousness. I have since heard claims that is not always true and people can have distress before losing consciousness. What was disturbing in that documentary was when they presented the idea of using CO2 to replace lethal injection to the American doctor he replied (as best I can remember) "Its a punishment. Its not meant to be pleasant!"
