Her Name is Palki Sharma and until last year worked for WION and did the Gravitas reports which can be seen here on YouTube. She has since moved on and started her own thing much like Krystal Ball and Saagar moved on from the Hill. I'm Australian and have watched a few of her WION pieces in the past. No doubt she has some biases but then who doesn't. I have always found her very good on facts. She's actually pretty good at going straight at subjects like she does here. If I had a criticism its that in going straight at a subject she tends not to give other perspectives any consideration.

@Cthulhu4President Here's some suggestions DW - Germany BBC - Britain ABC - Australia (my country) France24 - French WION - Indian, where Palki Sharma was. You'd need to check to see where she is now. Any Canadian News Service. I was there a few years back and they all seemed fairly decent. Most important thing anyone can do is check a story against how other nations report it. Sometimes it sucks but at least you'll see how others perceive something.

@wilmaroles4375 That's because like so many others in the media she does mix opinion and fact together making it hard to separate what's fact that we can check. Its not a problem she has, its a problem the entire media system has its just worse in some cases than others. People tend to forget that opinion is just that opinion, you can't really fact check it but you can check what its based on as well as it might be ignoring.

@Seevawonderloaf I can absolutely understand why someone who's Indian doubts European sources like the BBC, DW or France24 or even Australia's ABC. The same can be said regarding many African people. I have worked with a few Indians here in Oz. So I'm aware there's a lot of history that we don't appreciate that well (if at all).

@michaelhuggins8513 Buddy you hit the nail on the head. America needs to take a seriously hard look in the mirror. As I said I am Australian, but I also went to college in America. I genuinely like the place, like the people and the GOOD PARTS of the culture. I love college sport. The basic problem is Americans live for the "here and now." Yesterday is like what happened 1000 years ago and tomorrow will happen tomorrow. Next week barely exists. Next month or next year is irrelevant unless your a parent trying to get your kids into college. By far the single biggest issue is American politics which is about 3 things. 1) What do my money backers want? 2) How do I get re-elected? 3) How do I club the other side today? Truth, reality and the welfare of the American people are irrelevant. Our government isn't much netter by the way. At the core of that is the money. In the last midterms America's 460+ Billionaires spent over $900 million. Over $800 million of that was by a group of about 25. Most of America's billionaires are too busy running their companies. A small number of them are the real problem. Its why the Chinese went and locked up a bunch of theirs. They looked at American and said "No farking way is that crap happening here!" and a bunch of people simply disappeared. I really do hope America sorts itself out. its not only good for a lot of my friends but its also good for my country.

@everforward8651 Good point. I would add that on people's perspectives or opinions its not simply a matter of "a fact" as in a singular item but a collections of facts and that any collection of facts involves filtering. As in everyone filters out some facts while including other facts or they underplay or over emphasize particular facts. And then that leads to the reasons WHY they might include or exclude a fact. And that leads right to their ideology and narrative and motivations. And if you never get that far you'll never really solve anything because you wont understand what the other person actually wants irrespective of whether its good or bad.

@everforward8651 Thanks. Its pretty simple we aren't going to fix the world unless we own up to a few things. Just the other day I rewatched a Jon Stewart Podcast from a year ago on systemic racism. On the panel was British born American Andrew Sullivan. At one point when it got a little heated he simply blurted out "I am not responsible for anyone before me." Its right here at 10:41 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cmnwbGmu7w The reason I find that so shitty is that he's benefitting from what people did before him. Its part of the American Libertarian mantra. "I have no responsibility to anyone else past or present, but if I need help you have to come to my aid." Its an insanely selfish attitude. Think about the American banks who have the attitude. "The government is not allowed to put rules on me but they also have to bail me out when I screw up." Its the same attitude just with a different slant. At its core they are like 2 year olds - "I don't care, I want what I want and I want it now!"

@yogeshcyr31 Agreed - good comment.

@anonymouslyopinionated656 Good point - she is at least honest that its her opinions. I'm Australian and a couple of times she's been on the edge about Australia but she's always fair about it. She doesn't go into hyperbole like so many others. Its more like "here's a fact, here's my opinion, deal with it."

@nealdip22 As an Australian. 1) Yes here are some war crimes that happened in Afghanistan and 1 is currently in trial right now. 2) Yes we have mistreated islanders in the past BUT THERE WAS NEVER the torture you mention. 3) Yes there are Australians who are racist AS THERE ARE IN EVERY COUNTRY.
2
@nealdip22 If anyone wants to see a demonstration of racism ask an Indian about Pakistanis or Nepalese or Chinese. Its real easy to see racism first hand in Asia and Subcontinent just ask anyone about another people. Racism is rampant across the entire region. The difference is we are trying to deal with our issues you people are still in denial. Nobody from Indian Cricket ever publicly apologised to Andrew Symonds for what was done to him. Most wont even admit it ever happened.

@ashwinipingle8832 Its been a while but it was mostly on Australian related subjects and it comes from her NOT interviewing other people. I think she'd be a lot more effective if she occasionally interviewed people and simply hit them with "the what's your view on this?" I might be wrong but I can't remember her ever speaking with anyone else on any subject. So you never hear any other perspective. Its not a criticism just of Palki its a criticism I'd put it on many, many commentators including Australian commentators.

@donalduncleusa6552 Please note that I said "worked for WION" and that she had moved on. PAST TENSE. People aren't stupid they can find her pretty easily. Kyle should have said who she is and where she works NOT ME.
1
@Manirvana Just watch the show like any other of its type it has her opinions. Its not a negative its just a fact of this type of journalism. Stop being so parochial. I think she's fantastic and way better than many others but that does NOT mean she's perfect.

@nealdip22 Lets not forget how Andrew Symonds the cricket player was racially tormented by Indian cricket fans most notably in 2007 with "monkey" taunts. How about that racist piece of garbage Harbhajan Singh who called Symonds a monkey to his face. Don't go pointing fingers at other people when your people can be just as disgusting.
1
@ankitrai8180 Yeah I know people have been pointing that out.
