Buddy I'm Australian and went to college in America in the late 80s. I have to explain this to Australians ALL THE TIME. I really like America and American culture - college sport, cheerleaders and NASCAR are 3 of my favorite things. My frat brothers included a pack who were pre-law and they loved bouncing my skull off the wall with discussions on the constitution because I had a different perspective. I did engineering I used to hate it but thanks to Trump and these crazies its now useful background material. You'd be amazed how many times in recent years I have found my self defending the US Constitution and explaining that its actually better than ours which contains mountains of crap we inherited from the British. I don't lose any arguments either and that's for one fundamental reason ANY constitution can be undermined if people sit back and let it happen. America for way too long has sat back and let the crazies like the NRA, Fox Media and others undermine it. I think the Founding Fathers were incredibly brilliant in what they did. They just never anticipated that people like Trump, the NRA, Dick Cheney, Carl Rove, Mitch McConnell and others would do what they have done. Maybe they thought they had enough checks and balances to prevent it.

Β @mgm8822Β I saw your other comment. We aren't that engaged in Australia either and we get a similar result. The main difference is that we aren't as far down the path that America has taken, but we are following a similar path.

Β @duncanbryson1167Β I've never been asked if I was from Scotland but I shared a house with a Glaswegian once. One day we were watching the Rugby World Cup and during the post game interviews he was the interpreter. And that's note a joke he really did have to interpret. Noa Jimmayyy ee rilly dud. ππ¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π

Β @moegreen3870Β I think the US Constitution is incredibly strong. Just look at the fact that the 3 Trump appointed SCOTUS judges went against him recently. Just remember that Lindsay Graham openly said the reason why Amy Barret needed to be appointed was so she could make the decisions to help win the election. The real test will be the next few years. Be seated when you read this quote. Somebody else put it up a while back. I keep it in a word document with a few others so I can easily cut & paste it. Henry A. Wallace, Vice President of the United States - βThe really dangerous American fascist... is the man who wants to do in the United States in an American way what Hitler did in Germany in a Prussian way. The American fascist would prefer not to use violence. His method is to poison the channels of public information. With a fascist the problem is never how best to present the truth to the public but how best to use the news to deceive the public into giving the fascist and his group more money or more power... They claim to be super-patriots, but they would destroy every liberty guaranteed by the Constitution. They demand free enterprise, but are the spokesmen for monopoly and vested interest. Their final objective, toward which all their deceit is directed, is to capture political power so that, using the power of the state and the power of the market simultaneously, they may keep the common man in eternal subjection. - New York Times, April 9, 1944β I have only one question about Henry Wallace - HOW DID HE KNOW? As in how did he know Trump would do just as he described 76 years ago. What did he know that he could predict what Trump would do. Trump wasn't even born (14 June 1946) when that statement was made. So how did he know Trump would do just as described? Look at what he said about METHOD and misinformation. SERIOUSLY - HOW DID HE KNOW?

Β @moegreen3870Β I thought I just mentioned the 3 SCOTUS Judges Trump appointed but that might have been to someone else. Glenn Kirschner has made that point and other similar outcomes a lot lately. His channel is worth watching if you want to hear valid legal opinions. He was a JAG then a Federal Prosecutor. One of his associates tried the Blackwater 4 and his insight there is very good. On the Wallace quote I think you are right. He just saw how people operated and described it. Don't forget he witnessed Mussolini and Hitler operate and then must have seen things around him that he could compare. Most importantly what it highlights is that what we are seeing Trump do isn't new. Its just that we are seeing it in real time. In the past it took time for news to travel - these days its instant. I don't think Trump or his people like Kayleigh and Rudy realise that when they do a press conference it goes LIVE to the world and we can fact check them as they bullshit. I don't politicians ANYWHERE have grasped that we can fact check them as they speak. Its that or they really don't care, which for some is a simple truth.

Β @moegreen3870Β That all said isn't that quote from Henry Wallace just awesome. πππ¦π¦π¦π¦π¦

Β @moegreen3870Β As far as I know the other 2 didn't dissent they just didn't dismiss the whole thing outright. Legal Eagle is another YT lawyer I watch he less forceful than Glenn. But then Glenn has been a JAG and federal prosecutor and I think he's just frustrated with the attacks on the justice system. Particularly how the processes that America has relied on are being undermined. McConnell & Graham refused Merrick Garland is hearing and that violated the constitution. They cited non-existent rules and then threw those non-existent rules out when they rushed through Amy Barrett. I think those 3 gave them selves a huge boost in credibility when they threw it out. Particularly since Graham had openly voiced the reason for the rush was for the election.

Β @moegreen3870Β On the do they care. I think they only care if they get caught out. Way too often they don't get challenged. McEnany has made her self famous for simply walking out the moment it gets tough. She does that sorority chick dismissive statement and walk-off thing. David Pakman pointed it out a few weeks back. As for that 4 Seasons thing that was the joke of the year. Somebody was supposed to hire a conference room at the 4 Seasons MOTEL and instead got 4 Seasons Landscaping. It was almost as good as Giuliani's hair dye and the "release the Kraken" bimbo.

Β @disgusted1Β I don't know if they'll be saying those words exactly 50 years from now, but it will be something just like that. ππππππππππππ

Β @jakeharrisboxing1763Β No it will be the answer on every Psych 101 exam that reads something like: Give an example of mass delusion. It'll be a question on every Media and Communications 101 exam: Give an example of when the media companies failed to tell the truth. You can just bet every constitutional law class exam will have a question like: What is the limit of a persons 1st Amendment Rights if they lie to solicit money AND when does it become fraud and charges prosecuted. And the law school classes on ethics will be a war zone with: When can a lawyer go too far with frivolous legal actions that are baseless. I wish I could go back to college this year, some of those classes are going to be so much fun. There'll be a few Trumpists in every class and setting them off will a blast. I'll be like 4th of July ever day as they just pop off. ππ€£ππ€£π€¬ππ€£ππ€£π‘ππ€£ππ€£π§ββοΈπ§ββοΈ
