  1. I'm an Australian aerospace engineer and went to college in America. When I was an undergraduate Ronald Reagans Star Wars was at its spending height and my degree was a golden cash cow on steroids closely followed by degrees in physics. THEN the Cold War ended and aerospace degrees and physics degrees went down in value like a cement balloons to where they were before Star Wars. After than I sort of crash landed in industrial control systems and automation and had to basically learn another field of engineering. I have been there since working across various industries and through 30+ years haven't stopped learning because there's always something new coming out - new tech or upgrades. Somethings change very little over time and others change dramatically. Anyone who thinks that they learn all they need to know in a 4 year undergraduate program is doomed to failure. Industries change, technology changes, society changes and every time change happens you need to learn and adapt to those changes. Climate change is about to thump the daylights out of humanity. The countries (or societies) that will do best will be those who LEARN to ADAPT. There are a number of countries that have become stuck in their ways and they are going to fail and fail damn hard. And yes Australia is currently a very good chance to be near the top of that list.
