  1.  @PseudoSpaceMarine  Buddy forget the rules they don't even understand the first page of the bible let alone the rest of it, but that's a longish discussion. In fact its incredibly common among most religious people irrespective of the religion that they have almost no understanding of their own sacred writings. As in where it came from, when it was actually written let alone the language it was written in. In part that's because they were written in languages that are no longer even spoken although many of our modern languages are derived from them. In some cases we don't even really know how those languages were spoken or specific words were spoken. And if you think that language doesn't matter then go watch a TED talk by Lera Boroditsky titled "How language shapes the way we think." I lost interest in TED talks a while back because too many were laughably stupid and inaccurate but occasionally there's a great one and that talk is one of the great ones. And when you back track what she says about language it goes a big step to why so many religious people are so clueless.

  2. I have been trying to explain to people for some time now that the fundamental ideology of American Libertarians is: "We demand the liberty to strip other people of their liberties." It lines up perfectly with the Christian Fundamentalist and what they want to do which is why Billionaires like Charles Koch fund candidates that will happily give him what he wants and give the fundamentalists what they want.. Go watch the video "This Billionaire Family is Suffocating Rural America" which is about Koch Industries trying to buy the fertiliser company that the State of Iowa helped fund to provide competition. Look for what Charles Koch himself explains about 5-1/2 minutes in. Take not of the innocent caring claim he makes about the government stifling innovation and causing inequality. Charles Koch is worth over $100 Billion and funds all sorts of think tanks like the CATO Institute to manipulate governments with false & misleading information. He does not believe in competition. He believes in the government getting out of his road so he can do whatever he likes which includes stripping away competition, egregious profits and stomping on democracy.
