I'm Australian but went to college in America. A bunch of my friends were pre-law and they used to drag me into all sorts of arguments. So I ended up with an odd take on the US Constitution. These days I get to see this from a distance and also without the emotion. I happen to think the US Constitution is one of the greatest achievements in human history, BUT it has flaws. Its biggest flaw is the system that was setup to make adjustments and maintain America is broken. The purpose of the House is to make adjustments to the laws. The purpose of the Senate is to CHECK those adjustment and make sure they are BALANCED. The purpose of SCOTUS is to make sure no laws are being enacted that infringe on the Constitutional Rights of the American people. ALL OF THAT IS BROKEN. The Constitution is NOT broken the systems that are meant to protect it and maintain are BROKEN.

@anthonydelfino6171 I'm an engineer not a lawyer or ploy-sci major. My limit was Orwell and one of the things Orwell warned about (in a very long winded fashion) was that you have to look after your nation or it eventually falls apart and one of the tings you can end up with is a totalitarian nightmare. I think what you are describing is the reality of NOT looking after your nation and I don't specifically mean America. I know Australia is headed down the same path. We just don't have a few billionaires actively trying to tear the place apart yet. Its one reason I like listening to Thom Hartman. He's done a series of books on how America was founded and how it came to have the constitution it does. I don't see any other trying to dispel the myths the way he does. There might be others and I wish we had someone like him here talking about and explaining our constitution a whole lot better. Here's the talk I saw on American oligarchs. Listen to what's discussed about James Madison keeping his notes secret about 10 minutes in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ac1P89JMNM
