America is the only country left in the developed world that still allows this to go on. In most countries this would be illegal for any normal citizen the simple to do - its called "Insider Trading" America isn't the only country that has (or had) loop holes politicians can (or could) exploit. We stopped it in Australia back in the 1970s when there was a mining boom starting up. A whole bunch of politicians in Queensland bought stock as they were deciding mining rights. They bought stocks in companies as they gave them mining rights and mining approvals. It gave Queensland a bad reputation for corruption that has taken decades to get rid off and they still haven't gotten rid of it entirely.
