If they were right then Bush and Obama should never handed out Trillions to the banks and corporations during and after the 2008 GFC. They both should have done nothing and let Milton Freidman's free market sort itself out.

@zenithzeitgeist7489 There is NO SUCH thing as Libertarian Social Democracy. There is Liberal Social Democracy and it has been practiced across most of the Western Democratic world for the last century. The difference between Liberal and Libertarian is whether they want government to function or not. They come from similar roots but one is based on having a society with an actual functioning government and the other just doesn't. Libertarianism doesn't believe in society. It believes in "me for me and f*ck whatever you need." The character Ron Swanson (Parks & Gardens) summed it up brilliantly "My idea of a perfect government is one guy who sits in a small room at a desk and the only thing he's allowed to decide is who to nuke." Despite being a joke its actually very close to the truth. Their ideal government does NOTHING but protect their property rights.
