Henry A. Wallace, Vice President of the United States in the New York Times, April 9, 1944 “The really dangerous American fascist... is the man who wants to do in the United States in an American way what Hitler did in Germany in a Prussian way. The American fascist would prefer not to use violence. His method is to poison the channels of public information. With a fascist the problem is never how best to present the truth to the public but how best to use the news to deceive the public into giving the fascist and his group more money or more power... They claim to be super-patriots, but they would destroy every liberty guaranteed by the Constitution. They demand free enterprise, but are the spokesmen for monopoly and vested interest. Their final objective, toward which all their deceit is directed, is to capture political power so that, using the power of the state and the power of the market simultaneously, they may keep the common man in eternal subjection.” FYI - I love to claim I found that all by myself but somebody told me to look it up a while back. Its arguably one of the most important warnings the entire Western Hemisphere should take to heart. Its not just applicable to America.

@kevinsmith9013 Actually Truman might be a mixed bag. I suggest you listen to Mark Blyth's description/assessment on him. He spoke about Truman in response to a question on Elizabeth Warren after a lecture on Trumpism. The entire video is worth the time but he link goes straight to the part. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGuaoARJYU0&t=4794s

@kevinsmith9013 And yeah I do agree on your basic assessment of Truman, it just might be a bit more complicated.

@bluecoffee8414 I was a swimmer and no material what era of swimming you look at certain basics have always held true. When I look at any sport its the same. The basics never change and are always important. Go look at football no matter what technology or plays or your QBs ability to throw nothing works without blocking and tackling. The same is very true if you want a modern technological society - YOU MUST BE EDUCATED and the basic of all education is literacy. I'm an engineer and our problem across the entire field of engineering is technical drawing what some people call drafting. Because of the apps like AutoCad engineers no longer need to learn how to draw. You can't design WELL if you can't draw properly. The same is very true across modern society. Nobody needs to be bothered with reading, writing, spelling or grammar because we have apps that do it. So what you are seeing is the result not just the result of lower education standards. Its the combination of several factors including technology. Arguably the biggest delusion in the developed world is "I can USE technology therefor I am educated."
