@TheeQuirkyPanda Yeah we get it. Corruption and politics are the same everywhere. We all hope we don't have any and yet sooner or later we find we do. FYI- I'm Australian and our most obvious corruption has to do with our coal industry followed closely by our water resources.

I read a sci-fi novel years ago that was timed about 100 years form now and it was the African nations that had become economically and culturally dominant. The West and East had both trashed their natural environments, ruined their education systems and bankrupted themselves. Have a look at Russia, China and America are right now and what general direction they are all headed in. The Russians have trashed the Aral Sea, cut down their forests to sell to China and have a crap economy where they struggle to feed themselves. The Chinese have trashed 1,000s of their waterways and are now the worlds worst polluter and likely to lose 1/2 their farmland with climate change while they are trapped in the early stages of the greatest real estate collapse in history. The Americans have trashed the California Aquifer, wrecked the Colorado river, damaged great tracts of farmland and have thrown their own constitution in the bin as they allow money to dominate while maniacs like Trump prance around like Nero as he let Rome burn. Meanwhile Europe can't make up its mind over what it is or isn't. FYI - I'm Australian. We've pretty much done all of that stuff, but then we just had our best ever Winter Olympics so most of us don't care. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

@TheeQuirkyPanda You're mostly right. Even though the type of corruption changes from country to country corruption is still corruption. Anyway you look at it corruption is where one part of the population operates outside the rules that are enforced on the rest of the population to the detriment of the rest of the population. That simple reality doesn't change the mechanism used does. One thing that has bothered me a lot on recent years is the corruption of the refugee system. That's come from multiple directions with people with some unusual motivations. There's a huge problem with that corruption. Its stripping many countries of the ability to develop. I'm an engineer and I argue with people all the time that we need to stop taking refugees on a permanent basis because its stripping countries of the people they need. I know what it takes to build things. I have spent most of the last 20 years building remote mine sites. That means building the camp where people live so other than the mine it includes a lot of the same infrastructure any town needs - power, water, sewerage, food storage, transportation, fuel storage,... etc. That all takes a broad of people of many backgrounds and skills. To do it requires not just a lot of engineering but the people out in the field doing the actual work - plumbers, electricians, builders, welders, digger operators, crane operators, truck drivers,... Its a long list of trained skills. Then we also have issues with allowing students to come to Australia often paid for by the nations they came from and then we let them stay because they fill a gap we have. That's part of the corruption in our Universities. Instead of spending our money to educate our people we make money having someone else pay to send their people here and then we keep them gaining skilled workers that others paid for and depriving those nations of skills they need. So the corruption in parts of our nation does effect other nations. It might not be obvious but the links are there if you look.
