I'm Australian, who's known many Irish lads over the years and none of them mentioned that clanger. But then why would the Brits want to be reminded that they REPEATED the same stupid mistake with Brexit. More interesting is the apathy you describe how people just vote for the main parties out of convenience. Its now wrecked the entire Western Democratic World. We have that same apathy here in Australia. I was in Canada for work a couple of years ago and its the same there. We get the news from Britain and Europe and its the same there. ITS THE SAME EVERYWHERE.

@insightfulhistorian1861 That's a great point. If the vast majority just go along and accept the system as is then the system WONT CHANGE. Its not just politics or economics its across our entire human society.

@Twilord_ Brexit was another example of something the elites all believed would go the way they expected and it just didn't.

@insightfulhistorian1861 Brexit wasn't hijacked by the elites. Brexit was an offering from the elites led by David Cameron and his banking friends. It was offered up to shut up the whingers who were mostly outside the London banking bubble. That lot never expected to lose which is the similarity to Ireland. If you are trying to claim David Cameron wasn't an elitist then you need to re-evaluate your definitions. There was NEVER anything elitist about Nigel Farage. He was a pure populist who like Trump didn't expect to win which was shown when he bailed on the negotiations right after the win. He was a fraud and still is a fraud who just like Trump tapped into a lot of discontentment. Boris and the rest simply worked out that Cameron and his clowns were simply ignoring people as happened in Ireland and as happened to Hilary in America.

@insightfulhistorian1861 You finally got something closer to the truth. Elites in the more world wide view are more than money or politics. Its those who think they are superior with the right education. Both Clintons Yale, Both Obama's Harvard, Boris Johnson and David Cameron were both Eton then Oxford. Farage on the other hand never even made it to university. He was a private school snot, BUT he's not part of that same club. Sure Trump's from money and went to Warton, but I went to college in America and trust me he's in the same boat as Farage. Thinks he's in that elite club but he just isn't. Its what he hates about the Clintons and Obamas. Do you know 14 of the last 18 people appointed to SCOTUS are Harvard or Yale including 8 of the current 9. 5 of the 7 most recent people considered including the actual nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson are Harvard or Yale. Its all organized by the Federalist Society (started at Harvard and Yale) who believe they they and they alone are the rightful protectors of the Constitution. That's Elitism In America you also here it called the meritocracy. Which is basically I am your superior because I graduated from Harvard or Yale or Princeton. Just graduating from those places means (in their mind) they are better than the rest of us.
