  1. I'd say most progressives are fairly principled because they want the world to make progress and be a better place. that doesn't mean all progress is good its all a matter of why. If you look at the basic meaning of the word anyone who wants to see the human race go forward and change as in make progress is a progressive. People who just want things to stay as they are are conservatives because they want to conserve what's in place. Regressives are those who want to go backwards to some previous state. The real question for anyone in those 3 groups is WHY do they want what they want? Because there's good and bad examples in everything. I'm an aerospace engineer so I am a progressively orientated person but I also know that not all technology is right. I just saw a news story for the new Apple VR goggles. Yes it's a step forward (as in progress) for VR technology, BUT who actually needs it in a world where we struggle to feed people, provide them with health care, keep them safe,...etc. I keep hearing that most Americans cannot afford a $400 emergency expense of any sort and yet Apple have spent all this money developing something that costs $5,000. It might be progress but its wasteful selfish progress.
