  1. That effect is even more profound with sea water because the salt affects the resin matrix. Its why they thought for a long time that carbon fibre for yachts, boats & ships was impractical. It wasn't until the New Zealanders won the America's Cup with a carbon fibre boat that anyone realised it can be done but that it takes real skill AND ATTENTION TO DETAILS to do it. Its why the guys who build carbon fibre sailing vessels are so careful to make sure its sealed properly. I'm yet to see or hear any of those guys comment on how they do Carbon Fibre or how they get it done in a way that works. BUT lets not forget they aren't going 4km down.
