@herpderpherpd Yeah BBT has its fair share of BS, but if you've ever been around University research which I have its not that far off the reality of how crazy it can be. I don't mean all the personal stuff I mean the stuff they did around the university. I means things like the internal jealousies, competitiveness, fights for tenure, fights for offices, fights for budget, etc. Some of that stuff I've seen first hand but without any of the humour. The bit right before they won the Nobel prize where the other guys had lied about their research that's way more common than people realise. One of the reasons I left the research field was because of the level of fraud both scientific and financial.

What you're pointing out is yet another ugly case of Dunning Kruger Syndrome. This clown is another person who thinks because he can use technology (computer, video, video editing software, etc.) that he's technically literate. I'm an aerospace engineer and some of the stuff I see published is atrocious but the comments are even worse. Its another aerospace engineer, Emily Callendrelli, who I think hit the nail right on the head in TEDx talk a couple of years ago about STEM education and STEM literacy. -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9haKpJakU4 I'd put the issue of STEM literacy among journalists and media content producers as one of the biggest issues the world has right now. How do we have sensible public discussions about transportation or energy production or water management or climate change when the people speaking are technically illiterate?

@terrypussypower Yeah I know about the scientific method having been trained in it. Actually most scientific fraud NEVER gets exposed, because its not in anyone's interest to publish the facts. I have worked in research and seen it first hand. In both my first and second jobs out of college I saw FIRST HAND both academic and financial fraud. Its why I left that world and have never been back. I can tell by your comment you have never been in research and seen what goes on. people think peer reviewed means its an independent and honest review. That's not always the case. There are the online journals that claim to be peer reviewed. Many of them exist for making money. Anyone can publish almost anything if they pay. Its a real problem and others have spoken about it and a couple have produced really good vids on the subject.

@terrypussypower I'm in engineering and my research was in engineering and it was in engineering where I saw both academic and financial fraud. So don't BS on about esoteric fields. Clearly you've never worked in research or you'd know what goes on. The tragedy is that there are many people who work their butts off to do great work. But like any field of endeavour sh*t finds a way to float to the top.
