@antoncarmoducchi6057 Good comment more nuanced than the clown who started the thread. And I say clown NOT because of the pro-renewable stance he makes BUT BECAUSE of the ridiculous SIZE of the claim. I am an engineer and YES we have an abundance of wind and solar. THE PROBLEM is that most of it is a long way from where we need it and IT COSTS MONEY to transmit energy. The OTHER PROBLEM the wind & solar brigade wont accept let alone acknowledge is what it takes to have a 100% wind & solar system for an entire nation. Like many other things up to a certain point its fine but then starts getting harder and harder. One of the major things is grid stability which few people are talking about even among engineers. Its been a growing problem since the 1990s when we started connecting more and more computers. The switch mode power supplies cause noise back into the grid. In some instances that noise can collect into nasty harmonics. Its just something few are aware of unless they are right into that sort of thing or (like me) you've encountered people who are into that stuff. All these people who just think its a matter of just throwing up wind turbines across the country and/or plonking solar on roof tops are ignorant clowns.
